Cant attend citizenship ceremony

Hi all,

Just got an invite for the Citizenship Ceremony on July 20th in Kerry.
I cant attend this as I have holidays booked that I cant cancel (nothing is refundable).

Has anyone missed the ceremony? What happens if I miss it?
Will they just invite me on the next one?

You can email them with a valid reason and proof, although it is questionable whether a non-refundable holiday is considered one of them.

If they accept your request, they will tell you alternative options. Usually it means you will be placed on to the next scheduled ceremony, which is a few months away.

Let them know, so they can reallocate a spot and all.
You'll probably be invited later, some time in December (or earlier if they wish to do another ceremony).

If i would have been in your place…. I would contact them and explain why you cannot attend. I believe there are more among us who arent able to attend… they will most likely invite you for the next one.

Did you go to your ceremony in the end? I now have the same issue I have been invited to the October 2 ceremony and am away on holiday. Did you get another invitation?
I'm looking at booking a flight back to attend just to turn around and fly back out the same day. Which is going to be expensive and stressful.

I've read about someone who missed their invitation for June ceremony - got an invite to October one.
