immigration issue

Post by immigrationissue » Tue Jul 21, 2009 2:15 pm

I've been granted an indefinite leave to remain about 10 yrs ago, i had it stamped in a my passport which i later lost and it was the only proof that i had indefinite leave to remain.

As i had no other proof the UK Border agency have issued me with a notification of temporary admission and i am liable to be detained and I've had to sign on monthly basses at the immigration reporting centre...

I've been to the immigration advisory centres and I'm now represented by one of their lawyers, she made a request to the home office for my file of papers. and we are hoping that this would include a proof on my indefinite leave to remain.

i also applied to replace my lost Omani passport and i just received it today, but i also received a letter from the UK border agency asking me to attend an interview at the Omani embassy consular section next week, the letter said that the purpose of this interview is to confirm my nationality and identity.

the UK border agency are not aware that i now have an Omani passport, which now makes attending this interview rather pointless no?

is this request something i should worry about or is it suppose to be just a procedure they always go through?

what should i do now? the interview they set for me is early next week. should i let them know that i now have a passport , a proof of nationality and identity and i don't need to go for an interview? and more importantly when i do what would they do? now that i have a passport are they going to deport me?

I am living with my partner, we have been together for 4 years + , he is a UK citizen, we are not married yet.

I'd appreciate any advice.

thank you
