Query about Post graduate degree qualification

Post by gn_capri » Sat Nov 28, 2009 10:09 pm

Hi All,

This is the 1st time Im applying for HMSP, am currently on Work Permit and in the UK since the last 15 months. I have gone through the points calculator and am able to make up the points quiet comfortably with my UK experience, sal for the last 12 months and age. I have a query about my Post Graduate degree though.

I have done part time MS in Software from a reputed deemed univ in India. Since it was part time degree with full time work, the duration of the degree was 4 years. Will the distance learning degree cause any problems with my application? Also on the transcript of marks, there is a statement saying that the course was taught in English. Is that enough evidence to show that the PG degree was taught in English?

Any help with these 2 questions and any additional pointers for ensuring my application is right will be appreciated!

Thanks.

You should check your degree in PBS calculator for both "Qualification" and "English Language" sections. If calculator gives you points in each section, it means you are good to go. Otherwise you have to opt for other possiblities.

Ok thanks both. Yes the PBS gives me points based on the Institute I choose and the duration of degree and year of pass out.

One more additional query, I currently have only the provisional certificate. The original will be issues in about another 2 months and I do not want to wait that long to apply due to certain circumstances. Does anyone know whether the provisional will be considered by the home office?

Provisional certificates are not accepted. Page 19 Guidance notes.
