Visa Expiring before results

Post by satya.shyamala » Thu Mar 25, 2010 10:54 pm

Hello friends please help me

I am on my student visa extension which is due to expire on may 16th 2010. I had an exam on january 2010 and got my result in february, I passed this exam which is my last stage of masters as I already got my project finished last year. But the main board meeting is in june where they declare that I am finished with my masters officially.

As I told before my Visa is expiring by May and the school is not ready to give me any letter which states that I passed my masters before june assessment board meeting which makes me not eligible to apply for PSW visa. I am left with only option of going back to India and apply for my PSW from there after june but if I do this I will be missing my graduation ceremony and also 4 months of valuable time. I also need to show a lot of money which at present I cannot afford.

Can anyone please guide me with any other alternatives if you know. Please help me with this.

Simple. Unless you decide to leave UK which will place more burden on your PSW application. Otherwise, You school will continue to issue you letter for your extension until you are through. as long as they confirmed that your result will not be out until after the expire of your Visa, they should give you a letter to that effect and you will apply as student Resitting exam.
You visa suppose to expire at the end of your program plus additional 4 months or so. if there is a miss arrangement, then get a letter from them, since you do not have your result, you have not finish your course

agree with postman above..

in brief, your visa should have been extended until end of course plus 4 months. if that wasnt the case, write to UKBA through uni as you are entitled to 4 months beyond end of course

Thank you for your suggestions, but one thing is that I am already on student extension. My before student Visa expired on 31st of january 2010 and I got a visa letter from college for my extension which stated that my course end date is on January 16th which was my exam date. So the home office extended my visa until may 16th. So now I am in a situation where I cannot even go for extension as far as my knowledge.

thats interesting....

try contacting UKBA and explain the situation see if they will be kind enough to further extend your leave... Do it through uni as they have better contacts within UKBA.
