ILR whats next?

Hi my sisters partner was granted ILR at the end of last year. He has been in UK since 04 when he married a British woman, they separated after the birth of the children.

He would now like to obtain a British passport, how does he go about it? Does he have to be a British Citizen first? If so can you direct me to a site explaining this? Also what is the cost, as they need to get saying?

He is from Cameroon originally and his wife was British born from Cameroon parents.

He needs to apply for British Citizenship first. I believe the fee is still £735 but this is due to rise to £780. Although separated, is he still married to his British wife or have they divorced?
