Visa or No Visa

Hi,

I am a British Citizen of twenty years old.I am taking a gap year and want to visit my father who works in denver,usa.

My father is a belarussian citizen working on a working visa in USA.I want to visit him for six months.I never grew up with him and want to form a relationship with him.I have no intention of working just spending time with him.

I understand if I enter the US under the visa waiver scheme I can only stay for 90 days.But should i enter for 90 days to enter again for a further 90 days.ie fly back home then re enter or do I apply for a H Visitor Visa.Will the US embassy issue a six month visa? What is the maximum time for a visa?

Or maybe enter on visa waiver scheme then fly back and re apply for the visa?

Any help appreciated.
