South African enquiry

Post by bello » Tue Feb 01, 2011 10:26 am

I am really not sure where to post this query, so hope this Forum is close!! If not, please move to the appropriate Forum - thanks.

I a British Citizen living in South Africa. I am going on holiday to the UK for 2 weeks with my daughter (20 years old), who is a South African Citizen.

What visa do I need for her and how much will it cost?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks pennyless.

I was looking at the site you mentioned, and there they say that visas for family members of EEA and Swiss nationals are free (http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply ... isafeesoth).

Question is, as a British Citizen, am I considered an EEA national?

Certainly, when I apply for a Schengen visa for my daughter it is free.

Any thoughts?

No not in this case no free visa

As the minor daughter of a brit cit travelling to Europe it is free. It is a complex thing

Any reason why she does not have brit citizenship

Thanks!

Its the wierdest situation - my son, born in 1987, has citizenship, but my daughter, born in 1990, was denied. They say the laws had changed in the interim. I was born in South Africa to a british father, so that's why I qualify. My wife and son - yes, daughter - no.
