Limited company director - Is it self employed?

Post by Vega » Thu Feb 23, 2012 10:11 pm

I am a limited company director.

This is not "self employed", is it? So what is the right choice?

Note - I pay myself only dividends. No salary so far.

No NI paid.

I got my visa extension on Feb 20 at Birmingham. I am told by my Accountants to mark as Employed. However when I stepped into the UKBA, the Interviewer changed it to Self-Employed and said that I have my limited company and its a "Self-Employed". I tried convincing him, but finally I have compromised as I couldnt discuss(argue) more on that topic.
Hence I suggest you to be prepared and take all possible docs as Self-Employed, though you mark in the application as EMPLOYED.

Except that interview with him, rest all were ok. I received my approval within 45 mins after the docs submission.

You are Employed by a company where you are also the director and shareholder.

QuickSam,

I agree to your information. The drawback of it is when we sit on the other side of the table while submitting the docs and the other person speaks with high pitch, I have to stop convincing him.
But I agree, I didnt know about this topic you shared. I suggest any one next time learn this and try convince UKBA.

Dear Bhaskarmu,

Could you please provide us the list of documents which you carried for the visa extension?

Because I am also in a same boat like you.

Thanks in advance for the list

Thanks
