Earnings: clarification

Post by sandram45 » Sun Feb 26, 2012 12:41 pm

Members,

I am on a tier1 general applied before April 1st 2009 and now eligible for extention.

During the last 12 months have worked with 2 employers ( previous employer & current employer)

I received a redundancy amount with my last salary with the previous employer. The earning rules mention that redundancy amounts are not counted towards earnings.

MY earnings even without the last salary from my previous employer is substantially above the £40k eligibility .

The clarification I need from the forum is :

Is it Ok to include a salary slip which includes the redundancy amount? Knowing fully well this amount will not count?

Is it Ok to NOT to include this salary slip, as without this I still qualify on the earnings eligibility.

Regards
Sand ram

1. Yes, they will count the salary and disregard the other sums. You can help by indicating this in the notes.
2. Yes. With regard to this second question, it's not a tax audit so you only need to declare income that qualifies for the extension rather than making a full declaration of your entire worldwide income.

Many thanks Lucapooka, will go with not including the last salary from the previous employer.
