My Moroccan husband applied for his spouse visa at the Consulate in Madrid in 2006. We had been living in Spain for more than 2 years and were married there. He was interviewed when he submitted his application but was then asked to return the next day with proof of the sale of our car and a copy of his vida laboral (official work history). He was told that I could enter with him for his 2nd appointment and he was granted the visa while we were there.
Generally, applications made in Madrid are processed fairly quickly as long as all the conditions are met.
