UK Tier 1 VISA on expiring Indian passport

Hello,

My Indian passport is expiring in May 2012, which has Tier 1 VISA valid until August 2012.

1. How many days it take to re-issue Passport from Birmingham office?
2. What documents needs to be submitted? I heard if you change the Indian address on the passport it may take more time, is it right? If so, can I put UK current address on passport?

3. Will be my Tier 1 VISA stamping on ‘old’ Passport still valid?

Or Do I have to get new UK VISA stamping on the new passport? If yes, where to approach?

Can reply to some of your first question as I got my passport renewed in London, so cannot comment on Birmingham timelines. Maybe someone else might be able to answer that

You can use your UK address which is actually quicker rather than using an Indian address which is different from the one on your old passport. Document required list is on the HCI website. For UK address proof carry a utility bill/bank statement (not more than 3 months old) with you as proof.

You don't have to. You can carry your old passport+valid visa and new passport when you pass through UK borders. However if you still want to transfer your visa stamp to the new passport, then the link below should provide you with the info
