I know that my child can make an out-of-country application, but my relatives back home won't be able to deal with all the paperwork, neither do we have 2 referees there.
I believe you are correct in your thinking.
dear Jambo, you may be correct in your comment (as you always are) however I remember I saw contradictory suggestion in this post that if application is made to wrong authority, it may be rejected. So if the rules were changed after it, I am not sure but according to 6.3.20 it was not advised to send British citizen application to incorrect authority. Hence I had taken decision to apply for MN1 for my baby from within UK while he was still in UK and later he travelled to India and made passport application from within India. So if not rules are changed such that the MN1 application can be made to UK home office even though applicant is out of UK, then your suggestions are valid. However I am not sure about any rule change. Just to help the op take correct and well informed decision.

The rules have changed in July. The post you refered to is from March.

See 'Receiving authority' changes for applications made abroad.

ok then it makes sense, thanks for commenting. however I think even though British nationality application can be sent to UKBA ,London even if applicant is out of UK; later the passport application still has to be made from the country where the applicant is present. Or has it been changed as well?

Passport rules haven't changed. Application must be made in the country the applicant is present.
