V IMP!!!! On which date do you wish to travel to UK

n form VAF9, the first question is "On which date do you wish to travel to UK". I am appling at VFS Mumbai on 23rd March 2012. What's the maximum date I can put for this question? Can I write any date in July or August 2012? Thanks !

Up to three months from the date you apply. A moot point if it takes 3 months to be granted.

As psw is getting crapped after april 6th. So will june 1st do in this case.

That`s a different question. You can apply for a visa and then enter the UK at any time during the lifespan of that visa. If a visa is granted for two years you have two years to enter the UK.

I agree with Lucapooka on this, however the lesser time you have left on your visa when coming here might create issues with the ECO. For instance if you are coming to UK on a PSW visa with 2 months left, then this will be flagged by the ECO and might make things difficult.

The point i am making here is, after 6th of april psw route is getting abolished. The other thing that is clear that we can travel at anytime once we get the visa. But in the form we need to mention ""On which date do you wish to travel to UK". What i want to ask is, if i mention the date 1st of July or 1st of dec 2012. Will i get the visa from that date, i.e. 1st of July/1st of December?

You don`t have to specify a date if you don`t want to or know.

You can only request to retard the effective date by up to 3 months. So if you apply March 23 you can request a start date up to, but not later than, June 23. December is not possible. If you don`t specify a date your visa will be granted and set to be effective on whatever day it`s approved and you then have 2 years in which to enter the UK.
