Tier 2 or Dependent??

Post by Cleopatra » Fri Mar 23, 2012 11:43 am

Hello,
I'm in a bit of complex situation here, need your advice.

I and my fiancé are currently on PSW which will expire in Jan'13.
We both hold good jobs, his employer is ready to sponsor him, but he doesn’t love his job. I’m working on a temp contract until end of Aug'12.

Questions:
1. If he chooses to get sponsored by his current employer and wants to switch jobs later, is it easy? Does he have to re-apply and pay the fees and stuff again?

2. I understand that I have to hold my job six months prior to application if I want to apply directly. Is this right? (That apart I’ll have to find an employer who can sponsor me)

3. We are getting married in a couple of months, so am I better off applying as his dependent? Can I do this when I'm in the country?

4. If I am his dependent and he wants to switch jobs what are the implications?

Thanks in advance, any advices please pour in.

1. He will need to fulfill all the requirements for new Tier 2 application.

2. Only if you expect to take advantage of the PSW switching rules. Otherwise you can apply at any time.

3. No.

4. None, other than you will need to make an application to switch with him

What do you mean by advantage of PSW swtiching rules? sorry Im, not very clear.

3. No. (you mean I cant change into dependent when Im living here?)

4. None, other than you will need to make an application to switch with him (Thanks for this, but am not clear, coz I already will hold a tier 2 dependent status, what will I be applying for?)
