In France on ILR for UK

Post by Modgonne » Fri Mar 30, 2012 8:51 am

Hi-

I'm married to a UK national who has accepted a job in France. Recently, I acquired British ILR.

Leaving aside the issue of intent to settle in the UK, what documents do I need to be in France for an extended period?

Forgot to note: I am American by birth.

After moving to France, if your spouse is working you can apply for a residence card. The directive 2004/38 will apply to your case.

I take it you mean you are a US citizen, in that case you will not need a short term entry visa when first entering France.

Thanks for the reply- My husband is indeed working and we're going forward with the application. As a side note, I have seen that the application should be made during the first two months or three months. Am I right in thinking two is correct?

It's three according to the directive. I have read somewhere that France managed to mix up their twos and threes...
