Vignette

Post by Mojohnson » Wed Sep 11, 2024 12:22 pm

Hi

I am just posting a question on behalf of a friend - he got married recently in Pakistan and has made the application for the spouse visa. He is expecting a decision within the next 8 weeks .

From what I understand the vignette stamp has a validity of 90 days (?) - however his circumstances have changed and he would like to delay her entry till May .

Is there any provision to do this ? Would he need to apply for a vignette extension and when should he do this ?
Also does it affect his future applications for extension/indefinite etc.

Would appreciate some information and help.

Thank you

Also does it affect his future applications for extension/indefinite etc. Non-activated visa is as good as not stamped. Everything would commence when he/she enters in May.

I understand that can apply for a replacement vignette.

https://www.gov.uk/transfer-visa

Visa duration for first spouse visa from overseas is 33 months so definitely risk that will require an additional spouse extension visa to get to the five year point. May be possible to avoid that by applying as late as possible for first extension extension visa, delaying biometrics as long as possible and generally hoping that they take a long time to issue the extension but as looking at potentially 4 month or more shortfall then hoping somewhat.

Would be better to do short trip to UK, towards the end of the 90 day period, collect BRP, do some admin things to get set up in UK and then go back and return in May.

Thank you very much for the info .

I think the advice of a short trip here will be best and the least hassle .
