F1 visa crime conviction abroad

Hello,

If I am convicted of a crime (wounding- grievious bodily harm) while on my summer holiday, when I am not in the US, does that mean my F1 visa will be cancelled? Does it make a difference if I am given probation, or a 6 month prison sentence?
