UK visa expires 31 May 2024, What is the latest UK entry date?

Hi Guys, and thank you for allowing me into the forum. I have a very basic question which I think I know the answer too, however I need to be clear in my mind 100%. My wife's UK visa (5 year, tourist) will expire on the 31 May 2024, I am guessing that she would be allowed entry up to but not beyond the 31st May 2024, and then be allowed to stay for 6 months even though the visa entry date would be invalid. Can you please clarify this for us? Thank you very much in advance!!

The visa needs to be valid for the whole stay - visa holder is expected to leave by the last valid date. As far as I know there's no "free" add-on.

The scenario you've mentioned above is applicable to the USA visit visa. This doesn't work for UK visit visas. She can enter whenever she wants as stated above, but she has to depart the UK by the 31st of May.
So in theory, a week to that date could make it tough at the Border. She would be asked why she's come here so close to her visa expiry date.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
