Visa for Pakistan

Hello!

I'm planning to travel to pakistan next month (I am a UK citizen).
I'm very confused about the requirements for a tourist/vistor visa. I'm going to visit friends, do I need an invitation letter from them even if im not staying with them?

I've read different criteria on different websites and time is running out :P .

Can anyone help?

I think hotel booking will be fine you can tell me when you will go to embassy to submit your application that you have friends over there but you have not been invited by someone you are just going as a tourist and I think hotel booking will be fine..
