Given that HSMP applications can be made both in-country and out-of-the UK I have felt the need to check your IP address (which I can do as a Moderator here) to see where in the world you posted your message from. So I can see that you are outside of the UK.

Accordingly the answer to your question is .... use the VAF1 application form. Your wife should tick the "Dependant of a person in a long-stay category (e.g. student, employment)" box near the top of page 1.

Thanks for your reply John but I am based in London currently and my wife is not the UK.
Do you still think VAF1 will do or I need VAF2?

She should still use the VAF1 form. The fact that you are already working in the UK on HSMP makes no difference to that?

If you already have ILR in the UK then a form VAF2 might be appropriate, but suspect that is not yet the case.

Yes, I dont have ILR at the moment.
So as you reckon I should go for VAF1 rather than VAF2..right?

The only doubt I have about using VAF1 is the form it asks the question:
- How long u intend to stay in UK?
- WHAT TYPE OF VISA ARE YOU APPLYING FOR?
a) Dependant of a person in a long-stay category (e.g. student, employment)
b)Work Permit Holder
I beleive "a" should be correct?
- Also rather than sponsors details the form puts up questions for the applicant like (YOUR FINANCES AND EMPLOYMENT DETAILS ).

Pls take a look at
http://www.fco.gov.uk/Files/kfile/VAF1% ... sed3,1.pdf

Your help is highly apprecaited

Many Thanks
Shabby

As I said in this topic about four hours ago :-

"Dependant of a person in a long-stay category (e.g. student, employment)"

As regards your other question, the form is designed to be used for a number of different purposes. Not all of the questions are relevant to everyone. As regards any current employment your wife has, those questions should be answered factually, maybe with an extra note that the employment will be terminated when the visa is granted.

She can use Q5.5 you give details about you. The evidence she supplies should include a certified copy of the name/pic page of your passport, and also of your UK visa; also the HSMP approval letter.
