I am so lost.

Firstly, my husband and I recently naturalised as Irish citizens. We are now awaiting our certificates.
Our 17 year old daughter is on a South African passport and as soon as we get our certificates she too will naturalise as an Irish citizenship, which could be a day or a month for all our know.

We are now travelling back home for a vet important family obligation. Both my husband and daughters Stamp4EUFAM expired last month. Theoretically my husband doesnt need to apply for permanent residency as he is now an Irish citizen. however he has no paperwork to prove this.

We thought it was a simple application to renew her IRP card, which is incorrect and now been refused. So naturally I would have to go do the EUTR3 form, but theoretically I am an Irish citizen.

Im not sure what to do, she is on the brink of applying for citizenship and now she will battle to come back into Ireland after our travels. I really need the correct answer. I don't understand why I must apply for permanent residence as she will be naturlising due to her parents both being Irish citizenship?

Please let me know if there is a way I can extend her present visa that has just expired last month, and what do I do with my husband who is now a 'citizen' but got no way to show immigration at Dublin.

If I can’t extend it, would she qualify for 90 days free travel?

Both you and your husband are Irish citizens, therefore it is correct that you cannot apply for any IRP renewals.

Ireland allows dual citizens to come to Ireland using either passport. You can ask for a Stamp 6 on your non-Irish passport, but that is not necessary if you are from a visa-free country.

Then for your daughter - as far as I understand, South Africa is a visa-free country. She needs nothing more than her passport to travel to Ireland. I don’t understand what the actual issue is.

You also said there is no proof that you are an Irish citizen. But there is. You have an approval letter. You have a naturalisation ceremony invitation. You can apply for a Stamp 6 if you wish. You will also show up in INIS’s system that you are now an Irish citizen.

That makes a lot of sense with regards to Husband. Yes it is a via free country but was worried we couldn’t use that route if we have lived here already for 5.5 years. Am I correct in saying it would be 90 days free travel when re entering after 2 weeks abroad? For both of them if need be.

My daughter’s IRP card has expired. Last month. thought it was a simple renew which it was denied. So she now doesn’t have a valid visa to re enter Ireland. She has used it when travelling from Spain and Italy.

I just to make sure my child has everything she needs to come back here.

I have so much conflicting information, Eutr3 form which should not apply if we Irish now? Then the form for dependent to join an Irish citizen. Both are seeming a lot of paperwork, when the chances are we would of already applied for her naturalisation by then, just awaiting cert.

Yeah that’s a pity and a shock to be honest.

This completely changes how you can enter Ireland. As a dual citizen, you can apply for a re-entry visa for you and your daughter.

Just include as much detail as possible. E.g. a copy of your approval letter, an explanation letter as to why you or your daughter needs a visa etc, along with any necessary document requested in the application form.
