Visit visa duration - UK

Post by gogetter24 » Sun Sep 24, 2023 5:44 pm

Hi,

My parents have visited the UK many times. Recently, they applied for a 2 year visa together. My dad got his but my mum has only had hers approved for 6 months. She’s dependent on him and they always travel together. Nothing has changed from the past so I wonder why this has been the decision this time. They have previously had both 2year and 6 month visit visas approved. Is there anything we can do to challenge or appeal the decision?

Regardless of your father being granted a 2 year visitor visa, he will be unable to spend more than 6 months on each visit.
He shouldn't spend more time in the UK than he's spending in his own country, in a 12 month rolling period.
Frequent and successive visits (with only short gaps in between) will raise a red flag.

Your mother can submit an application for a 2 year visa after her current one expires. However, there's no guarantee on whether this will be approved.

If you applied (and paid) for 2 years visitor visa for your mother, you can try to ask UKVI to check it again/give you the reasons why - see this post and subsequent links post2114083.html#p2114083
