UK visit visa to work visa

Hello! I have a few questions about visiting UK on business,

Can I apply for a visit visa and then transfer it to a work visa?
If so, what are the documentation I must prepare.

Thanks a lot Vinny for the response, I have another query. My employer is sponsoring me under Tier2 ICT however, Iam to continue on my Indian payroll and salary would be credited in rupees. (The salary equivalent (INR to GBP) is as per the guidelines)
