Hi,
I would like some help please, I would like to invite my mom to visit the UK. However I am currently not working due to health which has made me incapable to work therefore disabled and on benefits.
I am a British citizen living in a rented studio, my question is I am eligible to invite my mom for the birth of my child her first grand child?
She has a house that was inherited from her parents, retired but work part time to keep her busy. She has a letter from that employer, the pay isn't much but most of her income comes from renting the property in her home country. She is old school and pay most things by cash but tentants deposit their rent in her account. The amount in there is around £3500. The property is in a prime area in her country.
I am worried because I'm on benefit they may refuse her visa. My uncle back home (retired Engineer) is planning to sponsor her the flight ticket of £1000.
I would grately appreciate some help how to approach this visa application and if she has enough to state she can be taking care of her own food and expenses while the accommodation will be on my.
Thanks

There is no reason why your Mother can’t visit given your personal circumstances. Being on benefits does not create a barrier.
Some points to consider, while it is natural for grandparents to be around at the birth and be there to help out the Home Office can take a somewhat obtuse view of this. It is viewed as unpaid employment, be very careful in how you word the reason behind her visit. Do not state she is here to help look after you or the new baby. She is here to see you and the baby…
The areas that the ECO will be interested is her ties with her home country- evidencing that it the most important part of the application.
The preorder and income from the rental is one aspect. This should be clearly stated and evidenced.
Is there any of your siblings or close family members in the home country - this should be evidenced
Her employer should state that her role is required and she will return to it after the visit etc.
Hope it all goes well

Thanks very much for your advice, her siblings are in USA, which she visited 2 months ago and went back home. Yes she has many friends in her home country.

Hopefully, her travel history might work in her favour. But you still have to go prepared, as the US visa is used with minimal documentations regarding funds, but the UK visa needs a lot of proof of funds.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
