Visitor Visa application 24yrs after refusal

Post by james59 » Mon Mar 24, 2025 12:21 pm

My nephew came to visit us on visitor visa from India 30years ago, he had never met his grandparents and grandfather had died and grandmother was also on the way out.
While he was here the grandmother who was bedridden with stroke was taken critically ill and we decided to apply for an extension for 2 months and was refused, the grandmother passed away after he left.
Six years later when another family member died we called him and his mother and he was refused because of overstay but mother got the visa.
Both his parents have visited us a few times, he has a brother and sister there who have never visited us nor have any intention of doing so. I mention the family to show he has a connection back home.
What are the chances of getting success if we apply now again as his auntie 70+ is having health issues?
He was 25years old last visit and only application was 24years ago when they refused.

Please advise, Thank you

So your nephew is almost 50 years old. Apart from siblings and parents, what else does he have going on?

Does he work? Well paid? Can he afford the trip? Does he have savings? Has he got other travel experience since then?

Every case is judged on it's own merit. The refusal from 24 years ago probably doesn't exist in any record again. Even if he was banned for the UK, it lapses after 10 years.

So that can't be counted against him anymore. If he meets all other requirements, he would be granted the visa.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
