Hi,
I am an Indian living in USA for past 10 years on H1B visa. My gf is in UK (student) and I would like to go marry her in summer. I had applied for visitor visa for marriage/civil partnership but was refused as I couldn't provide below documents.
Evidence that you intend to give notice of marriage or civil partnership, or marry or form a civil partnership, in the United Kingdom within the period for which entry is sought; and
Evidence of arrangements for giving notice of marriage or civil partnership, or for his wedding or civil partnership to take place, in the United Kingdom during the period for which entry is sought.
As I am a foreign national, I need to give a notice of marriage in person with my girl friend. From UKBA website: "If either partner is subject to immigration control you must give your notices of marriage at a specially designated register office and you must attend together and in person – no one else can do it on your behalf."
We contacted Manchester city council numerous times but they wont let us make any arrangement unless we give the notice of marriage together, in person.
Now since, I can't give notice of marriage, I cannot book a wedding venue as it is almost impossible for me to know when will the registrar be available.
Question: In this case what will be a appropriate document as an evidence that I intend to give notice of marriage and arragement for giving notice of marriage?
Regards,
Samir
