Visitor visa for in-laws

Post by aravapallika » Fri Nov 21, 2014 9:46 am

Hello

I am currently on a Tier 2 ICT Long Term visa. My visa is due to expire in the last week of June 2015. We are expecting a baby and the due date is March 27th 2015.
I would want to process a visitor visa for my in-laws. I would like them to arrive here by mid February 2015.

I have the following concerns:
1. Is my understanding correct that I need to apply for their visa as a general visitor instead of Family as we are not permanent residents here?
2. Also since my Visa expires end of June, would my in-laws get the visa at all? If so would they get it for the whole of 6 months or just until when my visa expires?
3. Should I say that my in-laws will be visiting us to help my wife during her pregnancy period and spend time with the new born?

My company would definitely extend my visa, however the extension process will only start around April 2015.

Please advice.

Thanks for your help

1. yes
2. visitor visa is given for 6 months
3. I have heard many people mention that you should not mention this.. as UKBA tend to believe that they will be staying here to take care of the baby while it is parents responsibility. But this is just me.

Hello
Thanks for your reply.

I understand that the visitor visa is given for 6 months. However, considering the fact that my visa expires by end of June 2015, which means from mid Feb - end June (4.5 months). Will UKBA still give a visa for 6 months for my in-laws?

Thanks
Kalyan
