Visitor visa for parents

Post by BasicQuest24 » Mon Oct 07, 2024 11:20 pm

Hi all

I understand the subject is a very common topic and there are a lot material already posted. However, my scenario is a bit specific, hence posting my question here.

I would like to process UK visitor visa for my father, who currently lives. He is a US green card holder, 91 years of age, living with my brother.

The situation is, unfortunately his green card was misplaced during a passport renewal process and we have applied for a replacement, which is in progress

In the meantime time, we have also applied for I-551, which is a proof of status, which he can use to travel in the interim period

I have the following questions:

1. Is it fine to furnish the proof of status (I-551) at the time of applying for UK visitor visa or do we have to wait for the replacement green card? I want to refer US as his base location. There is a lead time to get the actual replacement green card, hence the question

2.Can we apply for the visa in US or do we have to make the application only from India?

3.. Is it possible for me to apply for a multiple entry visitor visa? Posting the question considering his age

4.What are the chances for a successful family visa application in his case and timelines for the same?

Looking forward for your help and guidance.

I'm not sure what this document states as his residence time/conditions, but assuming it has less validity compared to green card, it may affect his ability to get a longer visa (assuming you apply for one). You might ask this question to UK embassy in US.

That's fine

I don't think UK gives single entry visitor visas, so yes

That is not really a question we can answer, really (especially with not as much data). You can gather relevant documents, apply, see for yourself and share the experience on the forums.

The card is fine. It shows that your dad has permanent residency in the US. The validity of the card doesn't negate status. Same way a passport has an expiry date.

The UK would only care that he legally lives in the US permanently.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
