Visitor Visa

Post by Hodgson » Mon Dec 11, 2006 6:25 pm

Hello,
I want my Nepalese fiance to visit me in the UK (I am a British Citizen) so that he can meet my family. We will not be getting married in the UK. Is it likely that he will be granted a 6month visa or will it be for a lesser time? I want him to stay for at least 6 months but i heard that they may give it for less. I will be providing all his costs and accommodation and he will be returning to Nepal after his visit here. This is his first time to the UK. We don't know if we should go to all that expense if a visa is only granted for one month. Is there any other way he can visit me for a longer period?
Many thanks

I'd be surprised if it's granted at all if ur supporting him like that. Those nice ECO's will just assume he intends to marry/settle here against the terms of the visitors visa.

:( Really? I didn't realise things were so tough. And I thought it wasn't possible to marry in the UK without another type of visa. I want to provide the costs otherwise he won't be able to come. So it seems I can visit him in Nepal, which I have done a number of times during our 2yr relationship, but if he wants to visit me the assumption is he won't leave ? It seems really unfair. I suppose we can only try!
