Assuming that you are not a holder of an EU or a UK passport, you would need a student visa.
"the nearby high school" is probably a state funded school and as a non-EU/UK national you cannot attend this school. You must attend a private school.
Alternatively, you can attend "Colleges" there should be at least a couple in a decent city and they offer high school teaching. These are publicly funded but colleges are able to take in international students as they can charge then at a higher rate.
The only way you can attend a "proper" high school is if say your family moves to the UK and you come to the uk as a dependent then you will be able to attend the state school. or if your mother comes to the UK on a work permit and you come as a dependent of your mother, then you are also eligible.
If youre budget is tight I would suggest you look for the colleges as private schools tend to be much more expensive.
