Want In Laws to move to the US

Post by Skitter » Tue Dec 14, 2010 2:51 pm

I'm an american citizen. I married a south african about 6 years ago. He has not become a citizen, but he has his perm residency, we have just been lazy about the citizen test.
His parents got an email awhile ago from migrationbureau.com. Of course if it's too easy & too good to be true it usually is right? Has anyone had any success with this place, sure looks like a scam to me.
What route should we take in getting my In laws over here? That would include my husband's parents, 2 brothers & 1 sister.
Thank you in advance.

Permanent residents can't petition for parents - regardless of what the immigration scam artists say. In order to do that, your husband will need to naturalize.

Thats right, Green Card holder can only petition for spouse and children and its processing time is years. To petition for parents one must be US Citizen and also for sister and brother as well.

The Form N400 is what you need. A completed Form N400 (Citizenship Application) has to be filed along with photos and supporting documents. A green card holder who is above 18 years of age and meets other eligibility requirements can file N400 form.
