6 weeks rules - Citizenship

Post by jlad » Sun Mar 13, 2022 1:05 am

Hi all,

Not sure if anyone can advise me on this? Been trying to look and search for a definite answer but can't seem to find it, apologies if there is already a thread somewhere for the same question.
Am i right to assume the 6 weeks rules is 6 weeks x 7 days = 42 days in total outside of Ireland prior citizenship application?
How would they calculate the days, for eg, I fly out of Dublin to say Amsterdam for a week holiday on 1 March (Mon) and coming back on 7 March (Sun). Will I be out of country 7 days (Mon-Sun) or 5 days (Tues-Sat)?
Is there any docs to back this up too?

Thanks all.

Yes, it's 42 days.
Someone mentioned on the board that only a full day outside Ireland counts (so 5 days), but doubt ISD actually put it on their website.
