What are the chances for 8+ yrs Mainframe experienced

I have a situation here. Request advise especially from senior members of this forum.

I am an IT professional with around 8 yrs of rich experience in Mainframe of which 4+ yrs in UK. I worked as a contractor these 4+ yrs. I am currently in India. I have ILR. I will be returning to UK next month on a 6 month assignment. I will have to look for new job after that. This is exactly where I need your advise.

How easy is it to find the job in 6 months? Applying for the jobs in UK from India - Would it work? I do not have any prior experience in searching jobs in UK. Will it be better to approach job consultants personally than depending on job sites?

Can some one reply to me pls?

Confusing.
As you mentioned you work in the Uk in thid sector for 4 years, you probably could answer your question better then anyboday else.

This is a very wide field - the question is... do you have the skills on mainframe that are currently required, or in demand?

You may want to start looking online at places such as monster.co.uk, but I guess the pragmatic approach is always better - in other words, if I were you I would write directly to the firms I would be interested in (via their HR website), but I would also speak to headhunters and recruiters. The secret, I guess, is to try and open as many doors as possible.

The only difficulty you may encounter is - if they want to interview you whilst you're abroad, what will you do?

It will be difficult if you apply for jobs in the Uk while sitting in India. The recruiters will not even bother to call you up. Since you have ILR, you can easily travel to the Uk and hunt for a job.
