What country should i apply for Skilled Worker visa?

Post by shockboy2000 » Mon Mar 24, 2008 3:06 pm

Hi all,
getting bored with the UK after being here 4 years, and am thinking about applying for Canadian Skilled Worker visa.

I am Australian, and really dont know what country i will be in, in a years time or so.

So I am not sure if i am better off applying to Canadian consulate in London or Sydney.

Q1: If i apply in London, then later inform them of change of address to Australia, will i still need to submit paperwork to London when my Skilled visa is ready for processing ?

Q2: If i apply in Sydney, but i am still working in UK when visa is ready for processing, will they accept my UK documentation for earnings etc in Sydney office of Canadian consulate?

Rules suggest applying from your home country, or other country where u have been residing for 18months...so i understand this as saying i could apply from either.

ta

Dear Mr. shockboy2000

If you were admitted legally to the UK for more than 12 months, you can apply either in London or here in Sydney. Regardless of where you apply, the requirements will be the same. We will request the same list of documents and we will glady accept UK documents here and Sydney while London will also accept Australian documents should you come back here. You only need to keep us updated in regards to your mailing address. You could be called in for an interview at the office where you will send your application so it could be wise to send it where you plan on living for the next 3-4 years. The processing time for permanent residence is about the same in London or Sydney which is around 36 months.

Sincerely,
