what steps to be taken toward a US work permit

Post by Didier » Thu Mar 06, 2008 5:45 pm

Currently I'm working for the Belgian Military in the US. The visa that I currently have is an A2 (diplomatic). A bilateral agreement between the two goverments.
After ending my tour next year, I wish to stay and work in the US. My question, can I just tranfer from having an A2 visa to a visa to work here. Do I have to go back to Belgium first? What (legal) steps do I have to take in order get around this?
