What is the difference? help pls. x

Hi. I wonder if someone can clarify this for me please. I was reading on the rules for COA that if we are planning to get married in the Anglican Church we do not need the COA. Did I misread this? Does this mean we can just get married and then apply for a marriage visa thereafter instead of applying for a COA?

Maybe, but I heard all Churches are checking for valid leave now.

In any case CoA or not (CoA is free now BTW) - there's no way of avoiding returning to ur home country for the Spouse visa...

thanks for that Wanderer. I am aware that the CoA is free now but what I am trying to avoid sending our papers to UKBA. My hubby to be has only just been granted refugee status(5 yrs) after 7 years and is warry of sending his papers. I am on a student visa till Oct 2010 so am ok.

So was wondering if it'll be easier to be married at a local Anglican Church - which we are both members of - instead of going through the hassle of waiting for CoA which is not guaranteed - free or not. thanks again. x

Why don't you speak to your chruch and see what they say. If you don't have to apply for COA you will still have to send his papers in to apply as his dependent or spouse in any case if that is your plan.

yes that's what I am trying. It just seems to me that that applying for CoA is a waste of time if we don't need it because it does not guarantee that after we are married I will get the spousal visa anyway. To me it is pointless sending our papers for CoA and then sending them again for marriage visa afterwards. the info on the UKBA website is vague about the Church thing and we want to do the right thing and get married ASAP.
