What is the use of Permanent Residence Certificate for EEA?

Hi there,

I hope you guys are fine.

Does please anybody know what the use of a permanent residence certificate is for EEA nationals besides using it later in case of applying for naturalization? Additionally, if your application for a permanent residence is refused, being an EEA national, can they ask you to leave the country?

It proves the existence of an EEA national ' s right of Permanent Residence.

If it is refused, an EEA national can still stay in the UK.

1) you can claim benefits
2) You can't be kicked out if the UK leaves the EU (I think)

Nobody knows, it will just be a guess. Once countries start leaving the EU we will know for sure then. Lots already going for citizenship asap to be sure of not getting kicked out, including Brits in other EEA countries.

The treaty allow an EEA national to stay even if they are not a qualified person, unless the become an unreasonable burden on the resources of the host state.

Therefore an EEA national has the right to stay by virtue of the treaty even if they are not a qualified person.
