What do you get when you get ILR

Hi All

About to apply for ILR using form SET(O) on Monday at Cardiff PEO.

Just wondered if it is granted what you get? Will I get a new visa stuck into my passport? Does this happen there and then at the PEO? Do I get a biometric residence permit? What exactly is one of these? Do I still just show my passport when I go through immigration back in the UK after a trip abroad?

Can't really see anywhere where this is explained clearly.

Your will receive a BRP card sent to you separately via post and confirmation letter of approval given on the same day if your application is approved.

When travelling abroad you will need to carry the BRP card with you.
