WHEN CAN A PERMANENT RESIDENT SPONSOR A SPOUSAL VISA

Post by magata » Wed Aug 15, 2007 6:10 am

Hello, I hope you are OK, just a quick question ,

When someone is granted Permanent Reidence, How long does that person have to wait to enable him to act as sponsor for a spousal visa? Providing that all the supporting evidence and documentaction are available, Can that person immediately do it? If not could please specify the reason being for that.
Thanks a lot

They can apply as long as they have all the supporting documents. Also, bear in mind this - it is now no longer possible to use 'third-party support' in spousal applications. So, really, the sponsor must prove s/he can support the applicant without any help from others. There is some more information about this in the 'immigration for family' section of this board.

Did the sponsor gain PR via the EEA route (are you writing about yourself? )? Are they thinking of applying for British citizenship?
