When should i apply

Hi everyone,
I wonder if anyone can help, I have a spouse visa that is valid for more than 2 years (26/01/2010 to 26/04/2012). I understand the probationary period is 2 years, can I apply 28 days before 26/01/2012 or do I need to wait 28 days before 26/04/2012. Its weird I got a 2 years and 3 months visa !?
Also do I need to be working at the time of my application or before it ?

On what date did you enter UK after being granted spouse visa?

Hi there, sorry for answering late i've been on the run all day and i just sat down. Entered the UK on the 8th of February.

Apply no earlier than 28 days before the 2nd anniversary of your entry in the UK, and no later than the expiry date of your current leave.

Thank you for helping me understand, I have used the link you gave me and according to you I should apply on the 11 January 2012. I will have 3 months left on my visa when I apply, Is this the case for everyone or just me ?
I am currently jobless and my wife is supporting me at the moment, will that work against me when applying for my ILR. ?
