WHICH Country/Embassy to apply for Schengen Visa?

Post by TripToEU » Wed May 28, 2014 3:54 am

Hi All,

I am visiting Europe for 15 days and need to apply for schengen visa ASAP. I have all the booking ready but I am not sure where, i mean which embassy, to apply for visa.

I am Entering France and staying for 3 nights, then going to Belgium for 6 night and finally to Spain for 6 nights.

So in this scenario if i apply this rule 'If you plan to visit several countries equally long, you will have to apply at the Embassy of the country you plan to enter first.' should i be applying for visa at France embassy or Belgium embassy(because of longer stay)?

Personally, i will prefer France embassy since its close to where i live.

Also, I am not sure from where i should get insurance for my trip.

Appreciate yous help,

Thanks

Thank you for responding.

So even though I am staying in Belgium/Spain longest I will need to apply for Schengen Visa at French embassy. Are you sure about that? Since there is another Rule that says that apply at country embassy where you are staying longest. Sorry for asking again. These rules are making me confused. :? And I dont want to take a risk since all of my booking are already confirmed.

Thanks

3 and 6 days are not too long in the first place. I would personally prefer french embassy as i have done this in the past with no problems. If you don't want to risk it then better speak / email to VFS and find out what they say.

are you flying to all destinations ??

Okay, I did email French and Belgium Embassy. I am still waiting for their response.

Well, I am flying only from Belgium to Spain. Rest all are short train travels.

I will prefer French Embassy as well because then I don't want to go to New York Belgium embassy. I can go to Houston which is just 3 hours drive.

Thanks
