Which IELTS (General or Academic)

Hi there,

Quick questions guys, which category of IELTS i need to give for HSMP tier 1 visa. I think their are two categories 1. general 2. academic.

Which one do i need to give?

you can use either the general or the academic versions. HO accepts both types.

Both of them accepted. My opinion get the GT. Listening and Speaking is the same but reading and half of the writing is easier on GT...

Hi Ashu,

GT is easier as far as Reading and Writing are concerned. In case you have any plans to study in UK in next 2 years then go for Academic. The score is valid for 2 years.

GT is much easier

I just passed my GT, although my English is not very good

I am already in UK on a work permit but i am trying to get HSMP for which i need IELTS. So which one i need now? General or Academic?

Anyone work permit holder who applied for IELTS ?

go for the general one ...the writing section is easier compared to the academic.

The general IELTS is used for immigration purposes and the other one is mainly used when you go to University to show proof of your proficiency in english.
