Wife bringing Mother to Ireland on holiday

Post by Latintraveller » Thu Dec 05, 2013 12:27 pm

My wife, step-son and I are exercising our Treaty rights in Ireland. My wife and step-son are from Peru and have their five year Residency cards. I am from the UK.

Shortly my wife would like to invite her Mother to Ireland on a three month holiday. When applying for a visa will I need to send bank statements etc. or will the visa be issued on a similar basis to my wife and step-son's visa.

Thank you for your anticipated help.

Not really sure of the details but I guess they will need to see proof of how you are going to support her. Therefore, I expect that the requirements would be more complex than that of your spouse. You might want to get on the INIS website and drop an email to the EU Treaty Rights email address (Don't have it to hand).

Otherwise, just apply for a normal Irish tourist visa for her? If she has a valid visa for the UK she may qualify under the visa waiver program (i'm not sure if her home country is cover...you can check this by yourself on the INIS website.)

Hope someone more knowledgeable about the specific situation will come to answer soon!
