Wife on visitor visa

Hi all,

I am posting on behalf on my friend. My friend has come to UK on student visa, duration is less than 12 months (few days short). Hence, he can not apply for dependent visa.

Can his wife apply for visitor (tourist) visa to stay with him for 6 months. She has funds to support herself for 6 months. How can applicant show her intention to go back after 6 month? She is doing permanent job in friend's (her husband) school.
