Words can not describe...

Post by alex79 » Fri Jul 08, 2022 10:02 pm

Hello, I applied on 27 September and as everyone was saying "be patient" so I was. 4 days ago I've had enough of it and sent them an email and they responded after 3 days. However in the email they said they contacted me (don't know if email or post) on 23 November with confirmation and invitation to a ceremony. Now they are saying if I don't give them a good reason for not attending ceremony they will refuse my application. I wrote back and now I'm waiting what they say but this made me really angry, I keep hearing about people not getting any emails or letters despite application being accepted and HO claims they did contact them. Complete %&it show.

This is what they wrote:

We wrote to you on 23rd November 2021 informing you that your application for citizenship had been successful. We also requested that you contact your local authority within 14 days to arrange a suitable time to attend a citizenship ceremony.

At the citizenship ceremony, it is a requirement that an Oath of allegiance is taken before citizenship can be conferred. Section 6(2) of part II of the British Nationality (General) Regulations 2003 allows 3 months from the date an applicant is notified in writing of the Secretary of State’s decision to confer citizenship for the Oath to be taken. The Secretary of State has discretion to extend this deadline if there are mitigating circumstance. Failure to attend a ceremony within the prescribed 90 days deadline, has resulted in your certificate being returned to our office and the application may be refused unless you explain the reasons for you not contacting the local authority, or attending a ceremony.

In order for us to make a fully informed decision on this case, please contact us by 8th August 2022 and confirm the reasons why you did not contact your local authority to arrange a ceremony.

Failure to send this information by the given date will result in the application being refused.

Yours sincerely,

They ask for a reason even though I already told them in the first email why.

Search your emails, including spam folder? Some email apps may automatically delete spam after a set number of days.

Tell them again concisely.

For example

Was being patient.
Did not see notification of successful application.
Did not see a ceremony invitation, etc.

Well, tell the truth. They are asking for a reason to not having contacted them, and you have a really good one. The system is not perfect, but don't dwell over this, just answer with the truth and follow up if necessary. Good news is now you know your decision is an approval.
