Work Permit for non-EEA spouse of Romanian citizen

Post by bluesky003 » Thu Jan 20, 2011 5:54 pm

Hi,

I want to ask some questions about work permit in Ireland.

I am Turkish citizen and I have 5 year residence permit in Romania as a family member.

I had sent my CV to some job web sides and recently I have received job offers from companies from Dublin as Turkish customer service agent. They agreed about my skills and experience but when they learned that I do not have work permit in Ireland, they canceled my applications.

I want to learn that if I have any chance to get work permit in Ireland ? They say I have to find sponsor firm to get work permit. But I guess its almost impossible to find it as a customer agent.
There are many job opportunities for me but these restrictions block my way.

I would appreciate if you could show any useful way to me.

Department of Trade in Ireland are issuing very few work permits nowadays and the ones issued are only for specific roles over €30,000 salary (mostly IT) and over €60,000 (all trades). Meaning if you are offered a specific job from the list below and that job earns you an yearly salary of €30,000 or more you have a chance to get a permit but the company you are going to work for has to apply for this. But if you are offered a job which earns you €60,000 yearly or over it can be any designation, it doesn't have to be specific skill set. I dont think call centre & tech support jobs would get you a permit. Although I think if your spouse moves with you from Romania you can apply for EU fam residency here in Ireland. But obviously usual terms and conditions that the EU citizen has to work/study/enough funds to support etc etc apply.

As the spouse of a Romanian national, you have the right to live and work in Ireland, if your wife will be accompanying you, and she has will be exercising treaty rights as a Student, Self Sufficient or Self-Employed person. This will confer on you the right to engage in the employment activities. However she will not be allowed to work, due to transitional restricitons in place for these new accession state in Ireland.
