Work Permit with expired visa

Dear All,

I applied for HSMP from the UK this June.

My current student visa expired 31st of August but I was adviced by Work Permit officer that I can stay in the UK under the same conditions untils decision on HSMP is made.

Now I have an opportunity to take a job in the UK. Can the employer apply for a work pemit for me while I'm waiting for HSMP decision?

If I get HSMP refused can I apply for a work permit from the UK having visa expired?

You would usually be given about 28 days to leave the country or change status

Ask the employer to apply to WP now before you get the HSMP result.Workpermit applications can be approved in 2-3 weeks.Also once it approved go for FLR. Later if you get HSMP then you can move to that visa.
