working abroad after Spouse Visa issued

working abroad after Spouse Visa issued

Hi

a friend of mine got the UK spouse visa, but he is currently working in Kuwait. how long can he stay away from UK with this spouse visa? (after the spouse visa issued he went to UK and stayed with his wife for a month, then went back to Kuwait where he works).
entering the country every couple of months is enough? or should he live and work in UK during the 2.5 years ?
