Working Holiday Maker from India

Post by reejopt » Tue Feb 06, 2007 10:20 pm

Hi I am a working holiday maker from India and have had a long wait to get my Visa sanctioned. It took me 6 months post- applying before i got my visa. I have been in the UK since Nov 06. Now I have decided to get married. My partner ( Indian) was a working holiday maker as well and is currently on a work permit. I am planning to get married in July 07. What would be the correct procedure for me to change my working holiday status to a WP dependent. Can I get married in the UK and switch my status or do we have to return to India to get married and apply for a dependent visa?

Hi reejpot

if you have more than six months left on your WHV then yes you can apply for the certificate of entitlement to marry in the UK and then subsequently get married in the UK.

After you are married you will then need to return to India and apply for your spousal visa from there.
