Hello,
I have posted here before but I don't think I was specific enough last time about my situation. I am a student who will graduate in July 2008, but my student visa only expires in 2009. The reason I have an extra year on my visa is because I thought I would do a placement year before going onto my final year, but I changed my mind and wanted to graduate a year early. I know that I am allowed to stay one extra year under the new graduate scheme that started last May, but I will be leaving the country twice in the next few months, first in April and then in June. When I go through customs, I am always asked when I am graduating. To not sound suspicious, I always say '2009', although now it's 2008. Are these conversations recorded? Will they hold it against me when I apply for the graduate scheme visa? Should I just tell the truth or continue saying '2009'? I fully intend on 'surrendering' and changing my visa to the graduate scheme one immediately after I graduate, but customs might not believe me. I hate going through customs, they make me so nervous!
I would really like to stay in the UK. I have been here since 2004. Is it possible to apply for a working holiday visa after this graduate scheme one expires?
Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it!
